Chat GPT not good for educational purpose

Is it helpful to use chat GPT for educational purpose?

Hello friends,

I am writing this article as an academic writer. I am writing academic articles in the field of business and management for more than three years. I have been doing most of my research from Google Scholars as most of it is authentic. Then comes the chat GPT and out of curiosity I started to use it for finding research papers. I still remember my first research related topic that I searched on Chat GPT was "Can remittances increase inflation in a country". I was amazed to see the results generated by it. It was looking like a full research paper followed by list of mentioned reference with their DOI. I thought it was legit and just keep using it for fun purposes. 

A month after that my friend referred me to one of his clients who wanted some academic writing done. He gave me topic and I started to work on it. After few pages I thought of giving chat gpt a try for the research articles and as usual it found me tons of articles related the topic. I used those articles in the paper and completed it.

After a week, I got revision from that client asking for a specific paper I mentioned in the research. I thought I would be easy to find it as its DOI was mentioned in the reference. As I searched for the article, I found that it is a fake DOI. I tried to find it by name and nothing appears either on Google or Google Scholar. It was very depressing for me as I have worked hard on the paper and it got messed because of the few references. 

After that I have to apologize for the mistake to the client and have to do all the work again as I could not be sure which references were legit. I completed the file and hand it to the client but that step cause me my client as well.

PS: I did not use the wording of the chat gpt. I just searched the article and write it in my own words.

The question is whether you cannot use chat gpt at all for research purpose? The answer is you can. Now you might ask that you just said it generates fake references. It is true it generates fake references but it is not true for all of them. There are few AI that can help you write good articles with genuine references. Here are the list of the main two I use in my career

1. Scite

Scite can be used to for research articles as it will help to find the text in huge number of research papers. It is a paid account but can give you two weeks free access to check before purchasing.

2. Bing AI

Bing AI is chat gpt of Microsoft and can be used for generating authentic research references. But still you should click on the links provided by it.
